Ageless Sedona Elopements

That sweet call . . .

I’ll always remember answering the phone that day to the sweetest southern lilt “Do you marry old people?” she asked with a giggle. “Indeed we do!” I answered. “Well,” she replied, “my fiancee would like to be married before he turns 80, so we are in a bit of a rush.”

I was so glad she had reached out. “Eloping” has a different connotation than when I was growing up. Back then it meant a secretive (and often shameful) ceremony, usually for the young, or for people fleeing a disapproving family. Now, however, a Sedona elopement is a perfectly acceptable option for couples of any age just looking to keep it simple.

Age is not a factor . . .

As far as things to consider, no matter your age we are going to ask the same questions: do you want an indoor or outdoor Sedona wedding ceremony, and, if outdoors, do you want an easy/gentle access or is some hiking ok. For our charming couple from Arkansas, hiking was just fine, and we all did the little walk to the Bell Rock overlook, enjoying the Spring flowers as chatted. They kept things very simple - just themselves and the groom’s sister.

To capture the moments…

we set up a phone to video the ceremony, and we also brought along a local witness to take photos.

After a most moving ceremony…

they shared a dance.

And toasted.…

to their love.

They kept the playfulness…

as they made it legal.

Then, after more photos …

and lots of laughs…

we walked together back to our cars for hugs all around.

Sedona Elopements have no upper age limit -
and this precious couple reminded us all that neither does true love!
